Take one dark period of the French history in which you will make return two crowned icons of the popular comic cinema. Powder the whole with cascades and dishevelled race-continuations, while decorating of a good amount of observers and at the same time timeless decorations and emblematic. Leave finally mijoter until boiling in the purest tradition of the French burlesque comedy of the Sixties. By taking again the ingredients which had made the success of the Nitwit one year before, Gerard Oury carries out with his Great Ramble largest success in room for a French film. It is not a question here any more of convoying an American car faggot of gold and chnouf, but two English officers parachuted in occupied France of the Second World war. Stanislas – de Funès –, irascible megalomaniac leader, and Augustin - Bourvil -, the shy person house painter passionately in love with Juliette, the girl of the puppet, interpreted by Marie Dubois, lead to foot, horse, with bicycle, in the car, sailplane, and without their knowledge, this escapade between the kinds. Scenes of action to the scenes of war while passing by the light comedy in room, nothing blows this explosive couple ever more antithetic duettists than, therefore basically complementary… “Tea for two and two for tea…”
